Preparation For The New Arrivals

This is going to be a long post.. well i try my best to complete one shot if not it will be part by part..

Im a "Super Duper Kiasu Mummy", what to do.. 3 at a go.. so much things to prepare, so much things to check it out, so much things to do. But im quite "Pantang" one also, i only started buying bb stuff after first trimester. I know for malays they only get it during last stage.

Luckily i was well prepared by the 6th month, if not i will have more stress as some of you know that i need to give birth pre-term. So actually its some form of relief for me, at least im able to rest more and take my mind away from it. Im a perfectionist, i can't stand little little things uncomplete, i can't stand dusts (im allergic to dusts) and im a neat freak, all these can cause some stress and impact on my sleep. Opps ok i think i did sidetrack a little.. well early prep will help mummies remove some of the pressures you feel about the baby's imminent arrival, especially more to mummies who may give birth pre-term and also right now in Singapore, pre-term babies are on the rise due to a lot of factors, health, stress in work environment (for working mummies to be), stress in family and of course the unexpected accidents.. Some factors we can avoid, but some we simply can't even with precaution.

Its gonna be a busy 9 months for mummies preparing for the birth of their child both physically and mentally..

Preparation includes :

-Budgeting for the baby

- it will cost a lot of money just buying baby furniture and necessities, and can save a lot too if there are passed down pre-love items from friends or relatives and if babies on formula milk it will cost even more, not forgetting vaccinations, education costs etc.. especially when mummies are going to be a SAHM or mummies with multiples and also for pre-term mummies-the humongous hospital bill

-So far i have spent about $8k on baby's furniture and necessities (not forgetting x3 for my case)

-Hospital bill (well... i can buy a 3-4 room HDB flat)

Usually if money matters are not handled well, it will definitely cause some pressure and stress on the couple, so communication, understanding and finance management is very very important.

Hospital or Gynae

Hospital or Gynae to help in the delivery of the baby, and for mummies with threaten labour -please choose govt hospital with govt subsidy

-Childcare (as in who will look after the baby when they are born)

Usually the booking of confinement ladies will be done 4-6 months prior to deliveries, especially early for famous confinement ladies

For parent's parents or in-laws who want to resign from their work to help to look after the babies also have to give notice to the company

-Nursery

Essential items like baby's sleeping place, changing table (omit if parent's are using bed to change baby), night light as this will soothe the baby during night time when they are awake for feeds or change, Drawer or cupboard space to store their clothes, towels, cot sheets, cot bumper, blankets etc....wet wipes, diapers, diaper cream. Ok this lists goes on and on and on...

For mummies to be who need preparation on Nursery and a rough guide on pricing of items may feel free to contact me. I will try to assist you whatever i know.

-Antenatal Classes

Some mummies prefer to attend antenatal classes like yoga for relaxation or swimming to help ease the load on the tummy.

For me, i swim as it really helps to lighten the load off my belly and it really feel soooo good.

-Parentcraft Classes

I guess this is pretty important for 1st time mummies like me even though with others help from the mouth.. Hands on practice is really important.

Parentcraft classes usually are help by the hospital or even pte institutions. These classes involve breastfeeding, bathing and massaging of babies.

I highly recommend mummies to attend parentcraft so do my other first time mummy friends who have never come in contact with infants before and yes they really dunno how to handle a baby at all and they freak out the moment the baby cries.

-Names

For me this process takes 7 months to finalise as for chinese families, they may want to send the chinese names for "Feng Shui Master" to calculate..
